When going on a photo trip, you’d want to minimize the amount of camera gear you have to deal with to avoid the hassle and not feel the weight of your load. As a rule, if you can’t comfortably carry them all around all day in your bag, some will have to stay either at the car or back in the hotel.
Food photography requires very different technique than general photography. The lighting, props and lens have to be selected carefully for the type of food and the location where you have to take the photos. With the popularity of food, recipe and travel blogs, more people are taking pictures of all types of food, from raw salad to sweet desserts. Anyone with a digital camera and a little practice can produce a decent food photo.
More and more people travel to the far reaches of the globe and take photos with their digital cameras. These travel photos are then uploaded to Flickr and Facebook to share with their friends. I am like one of them. I am merely recording what I see as “beautiful”. That does not make me a travel photographer. Professional travel photography requires the person behind the camera to tell a story in the picture. When I think about travel photography, I think of National Geographic.
